Rimmel: Base Coat Top Coat Pro

I shamefully, never used a base coat when I painted my nails.
I never thought I needed one, my nails only peel every once in a while, they aren't yellow, and they grow just fine, but I wanted to see if they could still look better by using a base coat. So I went to look for a base coat and found this one from Rimmel, and the great thing about it is that is also serves as a top coat.

I painted my nails last night (now two days ago), and started with a base coat. I liked the way it made my nails look, I think I could wear them with just a base coat...or at least consider it. It dried really quick and my nail polish glided on smoothly. It has been two days, my nail polish hasn't chipped, and it is still extremely glossy and smooth.

Today is the third day, and I know I will be keeping it on for tomorrow. But I think after tomorrow I will try out this product with my most hated nail polish, Sally Hansen's Hard as Nails in Mint Sorbet, and see if maybe, just maybe, it will help out the polish.

Overall, and so far, I really like this product. I like that it dries fast and stays glossy. It makes my nails look like I just painted them, serves as a base coat AND top coat, and only cost $4.49 at my local grocery store.

  1. I actually do like wearing my nails with just a base coat sometimes because I feel like it makes them look healthy and it's nice when you don't feel up to doing a full on manicure. I'm glad it's working out for you so far, I'd love to know if it helps out with mint sorbet!

    1. Yeah I thought it looked a lot nicer then just plain. Plain looks just weird to me since I hardly ever see them with out polish!

    1. Base coats are suppose to prevent your nails from staining and help the nail polish adhere to your nail. I am having great luck with it and even if I didn't like it as a base coat, Its great for a top coat.

2 in 1's are always great especially if they work for both!

Thank you for stopping by :)

    1. Maybe I got a bad batch or something, I have seen nice pictures of Mint Sorbet, So I am surprised at the outcome. It just looked so....dry and ugly. I gave it a second chance, I will try a 3rd!

I think you will like the product, it's great!

  6. Definitely getting this. I've been wanting to try a base coat (another base coat virgin), and my top coat polish has just run dry. I'll be picking this up tomorrow. Thanks :)!

    1. You don't feel weird going Natural since you paint your nails often?
