- blog hi-jacking -

Today has been a frustrating day, so I resorted to going through my blog and replying to comments since I haven't in a while.

Besides doing that, I like to, as I have mentioned before, look at my traffic sources just to see where my traffic is coming from along with the silly things people type to search for my blog or the random things that bring them to my blog.

As I was looking at my traffic sources I saw a link I have never seen before with 5 page views, and I was curious as to what the site was. I clicked the link only to be led to a Pornography website. I was pretty disgusted and worried at the same time. How could my link be on there page?? I was pretty confused, so I Googled the link. I saw that it led to other pornography websites and I got worried even more. I thought someone had used my website for something.

So I kept scanning through the search results and came across a few listings with complaints about this link. A lot had to do with Blogspot/blogger. Apparently, a woman in New York was having her blog hacked into. It's a long and confusing read, but i am trying to read through the whole post on this problem.

I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing this?

WARNING:
This is the link, I would not suggest clicking it though:
http://www.meendo.com/?partner=2631

Update:
I have also seen these websites that were listed on the the post about these bad links
Filmhill
Linkedin
Stumbleupon (Stumbleupon is a legit site, but the link I always see leads to the same exact page everytime and it's about twitter/facebook)
fr.netlog

UPDATE 2
I decided to search further into this, and these links are basically SPAM. I wouldn't suggest clicking on them because they send cookies to your computer, things you don't want. They are using websites like Twitter and Facebook to send backlinks and redirect you. They are basically fake referral sites. Apparently I am not the only blogger who has seen these links and questioned them, I read a few blogs that explained the reason as to why they were appearing in the first place.

I am not sure why or how my page got linked to them in the first place.
I have seen other sites that were included in the bad list that have these key words in them.
Cultek
Aptratings
bx.cleaner
tw.co
bestcleanerx
 fr.netlog
myhealthscore

UPDATE 3: AUG 21/12
Silly me clicked on this site "www.broadwaypink.com" because it seemed like an actual blog name, something a long the lines of fashion or beauty, but nope, it was pornography. Such a shame! I was making sure not to click on the links but then I clicked that one so naively!

The best way to help stop these links, and I believe we have all come to a consensus, that we should NOT click the links, if you want to know what the link is, simply copy and paste it into Google and the listings will more than likely show you what kind of website you are dealing with!

Best of wishes to us all, lets hope they get shut down! And it would be great to spread the word!

    1. I saw stumbleupon a lot, and I kept going to it cause I was wondering what it was. It wasn't until this time that I realized it was bad, since it was a pornography site. I thought it was from using a website that sends out my blog to search engines, but guess not!

  14. Same 'here 'Lady. My polish blog about role playing games (~sic !) is linked "on" pornography website. At first I was thinking about something like: "Oh, great. My dear old mate Vladimir is making fun of me by putting those links on that kind of 'great' sites - low jokes, bro', very low." - but, after some re-searching (... + visiting your blog), I am now pretty sure that something is just not right here.

Peace & best regards from Poland!

PS. "I truly enjoy blogging" = perhaps this is the "connecting line" between all of those "blog-per-to-porn-linking" ;). C'se, probably, we all are rather active bloggers. Who knows.

  15. I have a playwriting blog, and recently found the mentioned site in my traffic stats, too. Just now I read on a Blogger forum that the only way to keep them from coming to your site is not to click on the links to check them out. Right now, there doesn't seem to be any way to block them. I was very upset since my blog is seen as a "family oriented" place. But supposedly your blog readers/visitors can't see these links. Small comfort.

    Here's the information I found:

      Thanks again Bobbi!

  17. Very same problem here :/ First I got filmhill, which led me to a video about seducing techniques you could learn from fish.. What the fuck?? It was really suspicious. When I see a weird site, I google it. This normally enables me to see if it's a trustworthy site I can check out, or if it's not. One of these 'weird' sources was http://www.meendo.com/?partner=2631 as well, but also one that had the words 'amateur' and 'teen' in it. I'm still a bit scared that this site actually links to my blog, but I didn't and won't check it out.

It is pure spam, this is trick people use to increse their page views.
