You know what I like when looking at new mascaras?
Seeing the actual brush, not just a picture. I like that brands are starting to do this because you can actually see the brush itself, and not only that, I really like that it has that lid on the actual mascara because it allows you to keep it from drying out if you are like me and like to wash the brush to keep it from clumping. It's also great because if you are a MUA and you use a mascara on your clients I think it's nice that you can do with out the actual brush it comes with and use throw away brushes without contaminating the mascara.
I got this mascara with a 2.00 off coupon at my local grocery store H.E.B, the same day I got the lipsticks in my Lots of Lip post. I was in need of a new mascara, and I wanted to give Revlon Mascara another try because the last mascara I bought from the brand, wasn't my favorite to say the least. And since it was on sale, it was a great time to buy and try.
Well first off I am a fan of these brushes because they seperate lashes, when buying drugstore Mascara I usually buy Maybellines Define A Lash, it has a brush just like this one in a bright green color so I thought this mascara was worth a shot especially since I have been loving Revlon. I like that it doesn't give you a super thick coat at first, because some days I just want a light application but I don't think it builds well. It works really well on the lower lash line which is key for me because I like to accentuate those the most, but it transfers to my skin and smudges and that's never happened with any other mascara. Although similar to Define A Lash, I don't like it as much. The layers start off very loose, but once they have dried I feel like they have really dried, and appear almost flaky. They don't give volume really. This product was originally 8.97 at my local grocery store H.E.B and I bought it on sale for about 6.97. I really needed a new mascara, and it looks like I will be needing to buy another one because this one isn't what I thought it would be!
Maybe I should stick to Revlon lipsticks and nail polishes instead!
In a nutshell: The brush is great if you like to separate lashes and prefer these brushes. The formula is very black but when it dries, it dries and appears flaky. For me the mascara transfers to my skin under my lower lash line and doesn't create volume like it clearly states it does. The best thing about this product is the separate cap and being able to see the brush before purchasing. I will not be purchasing this again.
